I really don't know much about human trafficking. it is bad and i dont approve of it. I don't know if three are any pros about it.

i have watched a movie that was very shocking. I couldnt believe what people would and can do to innocent people, they beat and rape innocent people all for their own satisfaction.

risk

The poem "RISK" means to me that if you do not take risks in life than you're not lving. You will never be fully satisfied if you don't learn new things. My favorite quote of the poem is the quote that says "to love is to risk not being loved in return" to me that is the honest truth. You'll never know something if you never try it out. with loving someone you risk the chance of being loved back or not and that is probably one of the biggest risks someone could ever make. i really think taht this poem sends a positive message .

election

During the election period I was really anxious to see who owuld win. I did vote and I am glad that I have made a difference in the U.S. I really was happy that the right person won and im glad that there is hope and that change is on the way. I have now recently learned that Obama has named Hilary Clinton Secretary of State. To me that is the best of both worlds, not only do we have our first African American president but his running mate is now secretary of state that is amazing. I am truely proud to be an American now !

Disease in the Global community

I really did not know of any disease spread in the global community. I really have no idea what kind of diseases are being spread in the gloabal community and thats scary. I was reading our homework assignment and i seen that for homework we will have to read a story about the spread of disease and the global community so i believe i will have more knowledge about that tonight seeing that we will have a quiz on Wednesday. I really wish i knew about about it so i can write more but the truth is i don't :(

Semester

My semester so far has been really busy and stressful. I have had a lot more to do then I have had in the past semesters. There are a lot more papers and way more exams then i ever anticipated there to be. It is a little scary because the semester is almost over but hopefully everything goes well and i get passing grades. This semester has also been a lot of fun and very interesting.I have learned a lot from each of my classes and i learn something new everyday. My classes require a lot of studying and doing homework is major so i really don't get a lot of sleep, or as much as i would like to have. Since it is the first semester of the year i did have to get used to everything again so hopefully next semester is a little more relaxing.

alexandria house

I have not yet gone to Alexandria house but am planning to within the next week. I am also going to go to Alexandria House serveral more times within the next two months. When I get to Alexandria house I will hopefully be working with dinner time and help the kids eat and do whatever else they would like me to do.

No Escape

When I first read the story "No Escape" by Frankie Lennon i was scared for her. I was scared because I could relate to the story and I'm sure every child can.

I thought that Frankie was very brave as a young child. She over came her fears. Even though she was scared she still made her self believe she wasn't.

This story was a good one to read because I felt that her being scared in her own house was just one of the struggles she faced in life and like this one she over came them all.

My body

I believe that Coopers story is the most important story to me. I can relate to it because I feel that the media puts it in young girls minds that we have to look a a certain way to look beautiful.

There was a point in my life where i did feel I needed to look that way, so i went and did some things i know i shouldn't have. I started throwing up. None of my family memebers knew what I was doing but they did start to notice how much weight I was losing. I got really sick from this illness and ended up in the emergency room.

All i wanted to do was fit in and look beautiful. I wanted to be accepted by people and have a lot of new friends. I didn't realize that the media was evil until this incident happened and until i got really sick.

I realized that being beautiful is not what the media puts out to see or how celebrities look, it is how you see yourself. It is whats inside that counts. You have to believe you're beautiful so other people can see that you're beautiful. I learned the hard way but now I know better. I'm beautiful because I believe it !

This is me

Have you ever wondered who you are? Or how others see you? I believe the way others see you and the way you see yourself are two different things. I know when people meet me they see me differently than the way I see myself.

People I know see me as this little girl who is funny and loud. They see me as someone who can laugh at herself and not have a care in the world. They think I am this wild child who just likes to have fun. When I am with people I know, I am very loud and talkative. I am always the one who has to be heard.

Some people also might think of me as shy and quiet. When I am around people I don’t know, I don’t really talk. I keep to myself. I tend to get nervous a lot, so I’ll be the weird girl biting her nails or tapping her foot. I remember when I was in the first grade all the kids would laugh at me and think I was weird because of the odd little things I would do when I would get nervous.

I am a very friendly, talkative and outgoing young lady. I enjoy meeting new people even though I get nervous at first I still try and have a good time. I love to make people laugh even if it as at my own expense. When I used to work at a coffee place by my house the managers and I got a long really well. They would crack jokes all the time about me being short and loud. I never really cared as long as I laughed with them it showed that it didn’t bother me.

I am a very sensitive person and people sometimes call me weak for that. I am not a weak person, I just tend to care a lot about people I know especially family and friends. I am the type of person to stick by her friends and family no matter what the situation is.

Sensitive, caring, loving, funny, talkative, outgoing, shy and quiet is a combination of who I am. I have realized that people may look at me differently than the way I see myself but that doesn’t bother me because I know who I am and I love who I am.

Lessons Learned: Different Englishes I Use

I believe everyone uses diferent Englishes. I use different Englishes all the time. I use them when I am at home, at school, and when I am around people I know or people I just met.



When I am at home with my family, I am more relaxed and myself. I feel comfortable talking to them without knowing I will offend anyone. Sometimes when I am hanging out with my twin, we use slang. One day my sister and I were lying in bed and listening to music. We started to laugh because we didn't know the words to the song. She kept saying "Hey Dawg stop it, you're killing it.: I tend to use words like "dawg, homedog or I gotta bounce" all the time at home because i know my family won't loom at me like if I was a crazy person making up stuff.

When I am at school I use different Englishes. I am more respectful when I am talking to my professors. When I talk to the professors I try to sound proper and sophisticated and not like I'm at home or with friends. I never use slang with my professors. I found out using slang with teachers wasn't a good idea when I was in high svhool. I was a sophomore in high svhool and one of my teachers was talking to the class. She was informing the class about the CASHEE exam that every student had to take in order to graduate. She was telling us some of the material we will have to learn and what the consequences would be if we did not pass. She had told us that we would have to attend a Saturday class to focus on the subject wefailed. I thought she was joking, so I said out loud "Shut up, mp way" and the whole class was looking at me in shock and the teacher sent me to the deans office. I learned my lesson after that incident. When I am not in class and hanging out in the dorms I can be myself but at the same time I am still respectful because my friends don't know me as well as my family.

when I am around people I don't know or just met I use a different kind of Englishes. I am more considerate and respectful when I talk to them. I am a little shy when first people, so I won't talk as much with them then I do with friends. When I am at work I meet so many ne people. When I talk to them I am nice and kind. I don't talk to them about my personal life; I just greet hem and thank them for coming. Many times with my managers I act the same way I do with my teachers. I try and use appropriate words. I never use slang with my bosses because it makes me look bad. A situation happened with a girl I knew and her boss , when the girl told the boss something very disrepectful using slang and her boss fired her right on the spot. I knew never to talk to any of my managers in a disrespectful way because of the consequences but that incident reinforced that in heard NEVER to do anything like that.

My language changes in these situations because I respect people who are older and more knowledgeable than I am. When I am with my friends and family though, we like to act goofy, I think that makes us more comfortable together.

At home, school and with people I don't know or who I just met I use these differnet types of Englishes.

Plaits

I think in the book Mee Street Chronicles Frankie Lennon is trying to say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In the story Shirley Temple represented beauty. She had beauitful golden hair. Her curls bounced and swayed as she tap danced. All the young girls wanted hair like hers especially Frankie. She thought that if she had hair like that she would be beautiful and kids won't tease her because of her plaits. Frankie got tired of the teasing and the hair pulling she went through to get the plaits, so one night she decided to cut them off. She woke up in the morning realizing that she ad messed up her hair and that it didn't look the way she planned. Her mother also reminded her of a play that she was going to be in where she wanted to have Shirley Temple curls but could no longer get them because her hair was too short to curl.Society puts a lot of pressure on women and young girls to look a certain way. The media makes them believe that if they don't look that way that they are not pretty. I think beauty is on the inside. It osn't all about looks. I think that if a woman is confident in the way she looks then she is beautiful no matter what the media or anyone else thinks.

Change

Learning that Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama are running for presidenthas been pleasurable and painful because this has never happened in the history of the United States.

It is pleasurable because having a woman run for president is very exciting . She is a strong woman that has experience running a state. So hearing her come up with new ideas is great. Seeing that an African American is also running for president is exciting and new to the U.S

It is painful for me to see Obama be a head in the election. I don't believe that Obama has enough experience yet to run America. Even though I think it is great that as an African American her is still running and not letting any racial comment affect him in this election

Having a woman and an Afrian American man both run ning for president is both pleasurable and painful. I believe this is what America needs to show people that we can deal with change.

400 Words: ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL

On my way to schol today it wasn't raining, and i was very happy. Like every morning when I am on my way to school me and my sister are either listening to the radio or talking about the latest celebrity gossip. Today our ride was fun. we found ourselfs listening to KIIS f.m the radio station. We were excited to hear that one of the workers form the radio station was going to be in our city tomorrow morning. Not knowing where they were going to be, me and my sister already decided that we were going to be there bright and early.

After hearing that announced me and my sister were wide awake listening to the newest celebrity music and the latest gossip world today. My sister had told me that we were going to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to go to church with our mom and that we'll just stay up and listen to find out where they were going to be. I was laughing because i really didnt expect my sister to say "lets wake up early on our day off".

I was getting kind of hungry ans wanted to stop and get something to eat, but i had remembered
that at the daycare the children are going to have breakfast so i'll just eat with them. Trying to
take my mind off of food i sang along to one of the songs they were playing .

I started to laugh at my sister when she got very excited to hear one of her favorite songs. She started singing very loudly and evn though she was driving she was doing a little dance in her seat.
i was remembering back to last night when she was really upset because she wanted to buy tickets to a Jonas Brothers concert. She was looking on e-bay, debating if she can afford them. So hearing them on the radio made excited.

Once I was 5 minutes away from the school it started to sprinkle. i was a little upset, thinking it was goin to pour and i was going to get soaked. Luckily the sprinkles stopped and the sky cleared up a little. When I approached the school I waited in the car for a few minutes. Knowing that I had work study so early in the morning really didnt make me too ahppy. i realized that if i didnt get out of the car soon i'll be late, so i got out of work and headed for work.

Two things that disappointed me during the holidays

Every year my holidays are spent filled with family, friends and not to mention tons of gifts. this year was the total opposite. Two things that disappointed me this year were not having money to buy gifts for my family and not being able to spend enough time with my twin sister.

Every year my mom makes sure that me and my twin get everything we want for Christmas. In the past, my twin sister and i always had a job during the holiday, so we always had money to buy gifts for our family. This year was different. My sister was the only one with the job, so when it came to handing out presents I was the only one not giving anything. I felt disappointed in myself because i seen how happy everyone was to give their presents to people and here i ws just sitting and watching.

This year since my sister had a job, she was working all the time. She was hardly ever home and when she was, she was either sleeping or getting ready for work. When the week of Christmas came, she was the busiest. She would work long hours and never really had time to spend time with me and my family.Christmas day was the worst. She was supposed to have the day off, but unfortunately her manager called her at the last minute to cover fofr someone. She couldn't say no, so she went into work. Thta night she didn't come home till 11 o'clock at night. She wasn't there to have Christmas dinner with me and my family. I was really disappointed but i know that she had no control over her work hours.

Not being able to spend as much time as i would have liked with my sister and not having any money to buy my family gifts were the two things that disappointed me during the holidays.
